Set up alerts for tasks & deadlines

Updated on 2 min Open in Cenedril

Goal Create a reminder with a time, an optional repetition and one or more recipients so that a task or deadline is announced in good time.

In Cenedril you set up a reminder by opening Notifications, clicking Create Notification, setting a name, a time and an optional repetition, and choosing one or more recipients. After you save, the notification appears in the list and fires at the time you set. You acknowledge or delete completed notifications directly in the overview.

Create a notification

Open Notifications

In the sidebar open Notifications. The page shows three tabs at the top, Active, Upcoming and Past, each with the number of entries.

The Notifications page with the “Active”, “Upcoming” and “Past” tabs and the “Create Notification” button.

Open the create dialog

At the top right click Create Notification. A dialog opens with fields for name, time, repetition and recipients.

Set name and time

In the Notification Name field enter a meaningful label, for example the task or deadline you want to be reminded of. Under Notification Time pick the date and time. Both fields are required.

Choose a repetition

Under Repetition decide whether the notification should repeat. The options are None, Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly. For a one-off reminder, leave the selection on None.

Select recipients

Open the Select recipients selector. Use the Search user box to find people by name or email address and tick a box per person. At least one person is required. You yourself are preselected as a recipient.

Save

Click Create. Cenedril creates the notification, the dialog closes, and the new entry appears in the list.

Track and complete notifications

In the tabs you see each notification with its time, a relative hint (such as “in 3 days”) and, where stored, the person who created it:

  • Upcoming shows notifications with a time in the future. Here you can clear an entry early with Pre-acknowledge.
  • Active shows due notifications. Use Acknowledge to mark them as done.
  • Past collects acknowledged and expired entries.

If a notification carries a reference to its origin, a View button appears as well, leading straight to the relevant place in Cenedril. To remove an entry, use the trash icon at its top right.

Result: the new notification sits in the list, fires at the time you set for every chosen recipient, and can later be acknowledged or deleted.

Frequently asked questions

Can a notification repeat automatically?

Yes. In the “Repetition” field you choose between “None”, “Monthly”, “Quarterly” and “Yearly”. For a repeating notification, Cenedril recreates it for the next due date and marks it in the list with a repeat icon.

Can I notify several people?

Yes. Under “Recipients” you open the selector, search for people in the search box and tick a box per recipient. At least one person is required; you yourself are preselected by default.

What do the “Active”, “Upcoming” and “Past” tabs mean?

“Upcoming” shows notifications whose time still lies in the future. “Active” shows due notifications, which you can clear with “Acknowledge”. “Past” shows entries that are already acknowledged or expired.

Do I also receive notifications by email?

Yes, if you set that up. The email icon at the top right opens the delivery settings, where you choose between individual notifications, a daily summary or a weekly summary.

How do I remove a notification again?

Every entry in the list carries a trash icon at the top right. Clicking it deletes the notification. A due notification can instead be cleared with “Acknowledge”, after which it moves to the “Past” tab.
