Set classification defaults

Updated on 2 min Pro plan Open in Cenedril

Goal Set the default protection classification for new records, policies and exports, so every new object is automatically classified by confidentiality, integrity and availability.

In Cenedril you set the default classification under Team → Information classification. For every record type, policy and freely configurable export you pick a default value per axis, that is for Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability. New objects are then classified automatically against these defaults, and the derived exports compute their classification from them.

Open Information classification

Open Team

In the sidebar open Team. The page shows several tabs, including Team members, Access control and Information classification.

The Team page with its tabs, including “Team members” and “Information classification”.

Select the Information classification tab

Switch to the Information classification tab. If the tab carries a Pro badge, the feature is not yet included in the current plan. On a Pro or Partner plan the configuration opens with the Record types, Policies & procedures, Exports without a record counterpart and Derived exports sections.

Set the default values

Classify record types

In the Record types section, set the default value per axis for each type. This value applies to newly published records and overrides the scheme defaults.

For each row you pick confidentiality, integrity and availability from the three dropdowns.

Classify policies

In the Policies & procedures section the policies are grouped by area. The Area default applies to every policy in the area without its own setting. Below it, set a different value for individual policies where needed.

Set the standalone exports

In the Exports without a record counterpart section, classify exports that are based on wizard content or workflow tickets, such as the asset inventory or the KPI snapshot. These exports have their own default classification.

Review the derived exports

The Derived exports section is read-only. Each row shows the underlying objects under Derived from and the maximum per axis taken from them. When you change a record or policy default, this preview updates immediately.

Derived exports show the origin and the classification computed per axis.

Result: every record type, policy and standalone export now has a default value. New objects are classified automatically by confidentiality, integrity and availability, and the derived exports carry the matching classification through to detail pages and export documents.

Frequently asked questions

What do the three axes confidentiality, integrity and availability mean?

Every object is rated against three protection goals. Confidentiality runs from Public to Strictly confidential, integrity and availability from Negligible to Very high. For each axis you pick the default value applied to a new object.

Why can't I edit the derived exports?

Derived exports take their classification automatically from the records and policies they contain. Per axis the maximum of the underlying objects applies. The preview updates immediately when you change a record or policy default.

Does a change apply retroactively to existing objects?

The defaults apply to newly published records and to objects without their own setting. A value already set manually on an individual object is preserved.

What happens if I set no value for a policy?

The area default applies, which covers all policies in an area without their own setting. If that is not set either, the scheme's default value applies.

Are changes saved immediately?

Yes. Every selection is saved at once. A green checkmark briefly appears next to the changed row to confirm it.
