Kensington Lock

Updated on 1 min

A Kensington lock is a physical cable lock attached through a standardized slot (Kensington Security Slot) on a laptop or other device. The cable is anchored to a fixed object such as a desk. It protects devices against opportunistic theft in offices, conference rooms, or trade shows. For your ISMS, the Kensington lock is a simple physical protection measure that complements device security. It is especially relevant for devices at publicly accessible workstations. The lock does not protect against targeted attacks — it is a measure against opportunistic theft.
