Monitors, keyboards, and cables emit measurable signals from which data can potentially be reconstructed. TEMPEST-certified devices are shielded to minimize these emissions. The concept originates from the military domain and is applied in civilian high-security environments. For most organizations, TEMPEST protection is excessive, but it can become relevant when handling highly sensitive information.
