Multi-Region Deployment

Updated on 1 min

A multi-region deployment distributes applications and data across multiple geographically separated cloud regions. If one region fails (e.g., due to natural disasters or regional infrastructure issues), another region takes over. This architecture significantly increases availability and can also reduce latency for users in different locations. You need to carefully plan data consistency, replication strategies, and data protection requirements (e.g., GDPR data residency). Multi-region deployments are more complex and expensive than single-region setups, but for business-critical services they are often the only way to achieve ambitious availability targets (99.99 % and above).
