MBCO (Minimum Business Continuity Objective)

Updated on 1 min

The MBCO (Minimum Business Continuity Objective) is the lowest acceptable level of service that a business process must maintain during a disruption for the organization to remain viable. You define the MBCO as part of your Business Impact Analysis (BIA). It answers the question: what minimum capacity do we need to keep the most critical functions running? Together with RTO and RPO, the MBCO forms the foundation of your business continuity plans. For example, an online store might set an MBCO of 30 % of normal order volume, achievable within the first 24 hours after an outage.
