Aspirating Smoke Detection

Updated on 1 min

An aspirating smoke detection (ASD) system continuously draws air samples through a pipe network and feeds them to a highly sensitive detector. This identifies fire smoke much earlier than conventional spot detectors. In data centres and server rooms this is critical because even slight smoke can indicate smouldering cables or overheated components. The early alarm gives you valuable minutes for evacuation and fire suppression. In an ISMS, aspirating smoke detection is documented as a physical security control and maintained on a regular schedule.
