Emergency Operations / Contingency Plan

Updated on 1 min

An emergency operations plan (contingency plan) describes how critical business processes continue with limited resources during a crisis. Emergency operations bridge the gap between the initial failure and full restoration of normal operations. Typical measures include switching to manual processes, using fallback systems, or prioritizing the most critical functions. Your plan should define clear trigger criteria, responsibilities, communication channels, and the minimum acceptable service level (MBCO) per process. Test the plan regularly through exercises to ensure it works when you need it.
