Physical Access

Updated on 1 min

Physical access (German: Zutritt) is a BSI IT-Grundschutz term for the ability to physically enter rooms and buildings. Together with logical access (Zugang) and data access (Zugriff), it forms the third dimension of access control. In an ISMS, you manage physical access through locking systems, access control systems, visitor policies, and zone concepts. Security areas such as server rooms require particularly strict access controls. ISO 27001 Annex A.7.1-A.7.4 define the requirements for physical security.
