MTTR (Mean Time to Repair/Recover)

Updated on 1 min

MTTR (Mean Time to Repair/Recover) is the average time between a system failure and the full restoration of normal operations. The metric covers diagnosis, repair, testing, and the return to regular service. MTTR is a key KPI for IT service management and business continuity. A low MTTR requires well-documented recovery procedures, tested backups, and adequately trained personnel. You should measure MTTR regularly and feed the results into your management review to identify improvement opportunities.
